Of the prints I have seen by Vettriano, my impression is that most fall into two vastly contrasting categories.

The Singing Butler by Jack Vettriano

The first of an idyllic seaside resort, resembling something from a British “Great Gatsby” era, with males and females, impeccably dressed and evidently well-to-do, enjoying the rich-life.

A perfect example being The Singing Butler, first painted by Vettriano in 1992.

A carefree young couple dance on the beach as the waves roll in, being protected from the sun by umbrellas held by their faithful maid and valet.

The second type of picture is that of a sleazy, urban, back street building enveloped with flashing neon lights featuring partially clad and provocative females looking eager to please their handsome and debonair males.
